What Vacation Rental Homes Does Onyx Properties Offer in Visalia?
We operate three vacation rental homes: Sweet Retreat, Journey’s End, and Sweetest Retreat. Each is fully furnished, privately booked, and priced with no hidden fees when you book direct. Together, they cover solo travelers, couples, and groups of eight or more.
Sweet Retreat
Sweet Retreat is a 3-bedroom house that sleeps 8. The kitchen has a gas range for guests who actually want to cook. The living room has a TV and a working fireplace. Outside, there’s a waterfall koi pond, a gas fire pit, and a hot tub—the spot where most of our guests end up spending their evenings.
Journey’s End
Journey’s End is a large studio that sleeps 4, with a kitchenette and a private patio and garden. It is located at 812 South Giddings St, and rates start at $82 per night. It’s our most-booked option for couples or solo travelers who want privacy without the space of a full house.
Sweetest Retreat
Sweetest Retreat combines a house and an apartment on one property, built for larger groups or two families traveling together who still want separate spaces at night.
How Close Are These Rentals to Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks?
All three vacation rental homes are 40 to 60 minutes from the entrances to Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks. That puts you close enough for an early start on the trails without paying in-park lodging prices. It also puts Visalia’s downtown restaurants and shops within easy reach for the evening.
Guests who want to extend their trip often add a day trip to the Central Coast or a wine-tasting run out to Paso Robles—both comfortable day-trip distances from any of our three homes.
What Should Guests Compare Before Booking a Vacation Rental Home?
Group size, kitchen access, and outdoor space are usually the deciding factors. A couple heading to the parks for a long weekend doesn’t need three bedrooms; a family reunion does. Here’s how our three properties, plus a general hotel stay, stack up.
| Feature | Sweet Retreat | Journey’s End | Sweetest Retreat | Typical Hotel |
| Sleeps | 8 | 4 | Large groups (house + apartment) | 2–4 |
| Bedrooms | 3 | Studio | Multiple, split across two units | 1 |
| Kitchen | Full, gas range | Kitchenette | Full in-house, kitchenette in apartment | None or mini-fridge only |
| Outdoor space | Koi pond, fire pit, hot tub | Private patio and garden | Shared outdoor space | None |
| Starting rate | Contact for rate | $82/night | Contact for rate | Varies, plus resort fees |
| Distance to Sequoia/Kings Canyon | 40–60 min | 40–60 min | 40–60 min | Depends on location |
What’s the Best Way to Plan Day Trips from a Visalia Vacation Rental?
Beyond Sequoia and Kings Canyon, guests staying at any of our three homes often build in a day trip to the Central Coast or out to Paso Robles for wine tasting. Both are comfortable drives, and having a full kitchen back at the rental means you’re not stuck planning every meal around a restaurant reservation after a long day out.
The backyard, part of the rental at Sweet Retreat and Sweetest Retreat, along with the fire pit, hot tub, koi pond, and outdoor kitchen, makes it enjoyable to plan an evening around the property once the day’s driving is done. Journey’s End’s private patio and garden work well for guests who’d rather unwind quietly than entertain a group. Either way, downtown Visalia’s restaurants and shops are within easy reach of your vacation rental property.
What Should First-Time Guests Know Before Booking?
Book direct and confirm that your desired dates are actually available before making other plans. Our three vacation rental homes book up fast during peak park season. We answer the phone ourselves, so if you’re not sure which property fits your group, calling first usually saves a round of back-and-forth over email.
We’ve hosted guests headed to Sequoia since 2017, and the most common regret we hear isn’t about the rental—it’s guests wishing they had booked an extra night to actually rest between park days instead of rushing around to do everything back to back.
Quick Decision Checklist
- Traveling with a big group or extended family? Sweet Retreat’s three bedrooms and backyard are the best fit.
- Coming as a couple or solo and want privacy on a budget? Journey’s End from $82/night is your fit.
- Two families or a mixed group wanting separate spaces? Sweetest Retreat splits you between a house and an apartment.
- Want park access without park-adjacent prices? All three sit 40–60 minutes from Sequoia and Kings Canyon.
- Staying a month or longer instead of a vacation? Look at our private furnished apartments—they’re built for extended stays, not weekend trips.
Who These Rentals Are Best For
Sweet Retreat suits families, reunions, and groups who want a yard and a working kitchen. Journey’s End suits couples and solo travelers who want privacy and a lower rate. Sweetest Retreat suits two households traveling together, each wanting their own door to close at night.
Book Direct for the Best Rate
Booking directly with Onyx Properties means no third-party markups and no hidden fees—just the rate you see. We’ve maintained a 4.9 rating on Google since 2017, and I still personally answer most booking calls. One guest who found us through a third-party site last summer rebooked her return trip directly after seeing how much the markup had cost her the first time. If you’re planning a trip built around vacation rental homes in Visalia, give us a call before you book anywhere else.
